Exclusive Interview with Kawasumi
[in JAPANESE]
As we introduced here, today we had a chance to do an exclusive interview with Kawasumi! He is famous for his character illustration for MMORPG such as Emil Chronicle Online and Ragnarok Online.
Q1:What kind of child were you when you were small?
A1: All I can say is that I was not a good kid.
Q2: What made you decide to pursue the current career?
A2: At that time, I wanted to be a "dotter" among many graphic design career.
Q3: What are the best characteristics of your drawing?
A3: My idea changes all the time, so my style is hard to explain.
Q4: Which part of your image do you put the best
thought into?
A4: These days I am into color balance. I want my work to give a strong impression at the first glance.
Q5: Among all of your works, which one do you like the best?
A5:
Usually, the latest work is my most favorite.
Q6: What program and software do you use to create
your works?
A6:
I have been using Photoshop since before. Currently I am using PhotoShop CS2.
Q7: What is the ultimate art for you?
A7:
Not the matter of technical skill, but a work that receive many people's admiration.
Q8: Which part of the image do you start with? (Such
as face line, background, etc)
A8: I usually start from the face line for the rough image. Eyes are the first thing to be drawn for the final lines.
Q9: Do you have any creator or artist you admire?
A9: I adore the works of Taiyou Matsumoto. His illustration makes my heart beat faster.
Q10: Where do you get your inspirations from? (Example:
from books, TV, etc)
A10: While I am taking a walk.
Q11: Do you have a goal in terms of creating works?
A11:
I don't have any goal.
Q12: What animals do you like?
A12:
Cat. There are two of them at my company. (One of them is more like a panda bear)
Q13: What is your blood type?
A13:
When I went to blood donation, I found out that my blood type is O.
Q14: How do you spend your weekends?
A14: Shopping care freely and drawing.
Q15: Do you have any sites you check everyday?
A15: Mixi, and some net game news site.
Q16: What is your hobby other than drawing?
A16: Watching movie, reading books, and playing net games.
Q17: Do you have any project you are currently working on?
A17:
I have been working on some effect design for TV shows. As for the illustration, I am doing card game and internet game works.
Q18: Message to creators outside of Japan
A18:
I am still learning. Please support.
Q18: Would you accept work offer from outside of Japan?
A18: I would accept work offers even from the north pole.
