Exclusive Interview with Tohru Nishimaki
[in JAPANESE]
Tohru Nishimaki is a pretty well-known Ero-Manga artist in Japan. His best known commercial comic titles are: BLUEEYES vol.1~9 and D-Cup Lovers. His Doujinshi titles include: Busy Girls, DOAXXX vol.1~3. (See his website for all titles.) Among those, BLUEEYES is the most popular and long running series. (Still continuing. I personally LOVE them!) You can see sample of BLUEEYES and BLUEEYES2 at Akiba Angels' 18+ manga section.
ABOUT BLUEEYE
The story begins with Tatsuya (or "Tat-chan"), a young student, who meets his first love, Maria Misono, who promised him some years ago that she both would have sex when she was mature enough. Now she feels so, and so they have their first really sexual experience together. What Tat-chan enjoys most are Maria's enormously large breasts. From now on, Tat-chan has many affairs with women and often has to decide between love or sex, which drives him rather confused.
English version of BLUEEYES are available in the United States from Icarus Publishing and J-List.
Today, we are very happy that we have received a chance to do an exclusive interview with Mr.Nishimaki at Akiba Angels.
Q1:What kind of child were you when you were small?
A1: I had an active side, but basically I was pretty quiet kid.
I was naive, easy going and had strong pride.
Q2: What made you decide to pursue the current career?
A2: Ever since I was a kid, I loved drawing.
I was recruited by one of the Manga Study Group members to do some manga.
Ever since then, I became professional.
I used to live in an apartment where it did not have a bath.
My motivation then was to move to some place where it had a bath.
While people around me were starting to do job search, I was swamped with deadline for my manga series.
Therefore, I didn't have much choice other than continuing my work.
Q3: What are the best characteristics of your drawing?
A3: Basically, most of my works have happy ending and they tend to be love-comedy.
Usually, most of heroines in my manga have big boobs, and are girls from wealthy family.
Q4: Which part of your image do you put the best
thought into?
A4: I want my work to be fun and ethical.
I can't create works that involve violence and are dreary.
Q5: Among all of your works, which one do you like the best?
A5:
BLUEEYES.
I don't have any restriction in its style, and I can draw them freely.
Q6: What program and software do you use to create
your works?
A6:
When I create comics, I use Comic Studio.
To color illustration, I use Photoshop.
Q7: What is the ultimate art for you?
A7:
A work that moves one's heart and make him/her cry.
(I don't think I can create such work)
Q8: Which part of the image do you start with? (Such
as face line, background, etc)
A8: When drawing a person, I start with face line.
Then, I move onto eyes, nose, mouth and to the hair.
Q9: Do you have any creator or artist you admire?
A9: Takuya Inoue, Pappou Bijin, nekoJRT, Kyo Hazuki.
Q10: Where do you get your inspirations from? (Example:
from books, TV, etc)
A10: From romance novel, senses novel, Shojo Manga, and movie.
Also, from actual models such as Tina Small and Yulia Nova.
Q11: Do you have a goal in terms of creating works?
A11:
I want to create works that make many readers happy.
Q12: What animals do you like?
A12:
Puppy.
Q13: What is your blood type?
A13:

Q14: How do you spend your weekends?
A14: I don't have much free time since whenever I have time I work on Doujinshi.
If I had any free time, I try to go to gym.
I also like cooking.
Q15: Do you have any sites you check everyday?

Q16: What is your hobby other than drawing?
A16: Cooking
Collecting toys (Gumdam, Macross Robots, Bishojo figures, F-14, Derorian, Night Rider)
Research about Big Boob Idols.
Q17: Do you have any project you are currently working on?

Manga series I am currently running is BLUEEYES and ScarletDesire.
Other than that, I have some Doujinshi and Doujin Game projects.
Q18: Message to creators outside of Japan
A18:

Q18: Would you accept work offer from outside of Japan?
A18: Yes of course, if there is any offer.
I would love to draw Manga or Illustration for manazines such as SCORE and D-CUP.
