Convention Report - Animania (Australia)
Animania website: http://animania.net.au/
On the 29th of March, Mini-Animania took place at Sydney's Citigate Central. Don't let the convention's
title fool you - Mini-Animania was no mini event. To cover all the happenings, we needed to divide the
report into five segments. Grab a Lamune bottle and enjoy the ride!
Part 3 - Festivities
Now that my wallet's empty, shall we step away from the stalls and see what's happening downstairs?
As we approached the activity hall, an Animania staff offered his precious time to chat with us. He agrees that the anime community is expanding. To keep things fresh, Animania strives to provide new activities every year. Let's check out some of the festivities from 2008:
What's on the table? Oh, materials for a yutaka! Animania hired an expert to teach visitors how to stitch this kimono.
When you think Japan, origami often comes to mind. This isn't for me, though; I can't even fold a triangle.
As we all know, many otakus are also gamers. Welcome to the game room, which features Guilty Gear, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart and Tekken. Speaking of which, I participated in the Tekken Tournament! The result? Well, let's just say my fame faded within seconds. It must be the controller (excuse).
Alright, it's time for the main affair - Cosplay Competition! This year, for the first time, Sydney's participating in the World Cosplay Summit! You know what that means - top quality costumes. Don't miss it - see you in part four.
