Now days, the theme of "Gothic Lolita" seems to be getting popular and popular at every Japanese anime conventions. There are many cos-players who are in Gothic Lolita fashions at conventions. Dealers are carrying more Gothic Lolica fashion magazines and books, and custom made dolls are starting to appear at artist's ally.characters!

At Otakon 2005, one of the guest speaker was a comic writer Mitukazu Mihara, whose manga includes "Doll", which illustrates life of dolls with artificial intelligence, that were created for the pure purpose of serving human. In her manga, these dolls are also dressed in Gothic Lolita fashion.

Volks is a company in Japan that specializes in custom made dolls. "Super Dollfie" is the term they use for such dolls and Volks will make doll just for you. With their "Full Choice System", you can chose the head, body type, hands, skin tone, feet, wig, eyes and make ups. You can even choose the expression of the doll to look little sad, or happy.
When the doll is complete with "Full Choice System", it comes with birth certificate and they even perform welcome ceremony called "Omukae Ceremony".
Volks is planning to open its first store in the United States in California soon.
