Tokyo Game Show, Japan's biggest consumer game show, was held at Makuhari Messe from September 16th - 18th. (16th was a press day, and 17th, 18th were open for public)
This year's biggest topic was Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony Computer Entertainment's Playstation3, both next generations' game consoles.
At TGS, Microsoft has announced Xbox's official release date of December 10th. Xbox 360 is compatible with HDTV, and is expecting upcoming big titles such as "Ninety Nine Nights" and "Ridge Racer 6" that fully uses the powerful feature of Xbox 360. There were some playable Xbox 360 at Microsoft's booth.
On the other hand, Playstation 3 is planning its release on early spring 2006. There was no playable PS3 at SOE's booth. Some of the upcoming big titles include "Metal Gear Solid 4".
By looking at both booths, Xbox 360 had a slightly stronger impression than PS3. I have heard that Microsoft had spent one million dollar for the cost of exhibit at TGS. It is interesting to see SOE and Microsoft's further console battles around December 2005.
Other exhibitors include Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, Namco, Koei, Gravity, SEGA and many more. From USA, there were UBI Soft and Mythic Entertainment. (Dark Age of Camelot)
