Exclusive Interview with Toma
As we announced here, we have obtained a chance to do an exclusive interview with Toma. Her characters look like they just popped out from the world of fantasy. She also has the unique oil-painting touch to her illustrations. We have asked her 17 questions. Q1: What kind of child were you when you were small? A1: I was shy, and often played solo. Q2: What made you decide to pursue the current career? A2: Since I have started to post my works on the web, I started to get some communications with other artists who also run website. That really inspired me to involve more in this world of art. I have a full time job as a nurse, but I became nurse because my parents pushed me. Q3: What are the best characteristics of your drawing? A3: To give impact through my deep illustration-touch is my major focus. Q4: Which part of your image do you put the best thought into? (Such as facial expression, environment etc) A4: Eyes and face. Q5: What program and software do you use to create your works? A5: Photoshop 7.0. Q6: Which part of the image do you start with? (Such as face line, background, etc) A6: From face Q7: Do you have any creators you admire? A7: I have many, but my favorite is Akihiko Yoshida. Q8: Where do you get your inspirations from? (Example: from books, TV, etc) A8: I often get ideas from fashion magazines. I also get inspiration from the items that are worn by people passing by. Q9: What is the ultimate art for you? A9: To create works that stay people's memory for a long time. Q10: Do you have a goal in terms of creating works? A10: It would be nice if I can transfer the complete image which popped in my head into illustration. Q11: Do you like any animals? A11: A parrot. Q12: What is your blood type?
